Code-Projects Online Appointment Booking System SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in version 1.0 of the Code-Projects Online Appointment Booking System. The issue resides in the '/get_town.php' file, where the 'countryid' parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data modification or deletion, and exposure of sensitive information.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to manipulate database queries. This could result in unauthorized access to database information, modification or deletion of data, and in some cases, execution of administrative operations on the database.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to the '/get_town.php' endpoint with the 'countryid' parameter. The injection can be crafted using various payloads, such as boolean-based blind injections or time-based blind injections, taking advantage of the application's SQL query handling.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
