Code-Projects Online Appointment Booking System SQL Injection Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in Code-Projects Online Appointment Booking System version 1.0. The issue resides in the '/ulocateus.php' file, where the 'doctorname' parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data modification or deletion, and exposure of sensitive information.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, with potential consequences including unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and disruption of service.
Reproduction
The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to 'ulocateus.php' with the 'doctorname' parameter. Various payloads can be used to exploit the SQL injection, such as boolean-based blind injections, time-based blind injections, or UNION-based injections. The injection takes advantage of the application's failure to properly sanitize user input, allowing for the execution of arbitrary SQL commands.
Remediation
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
