GiveWP Donation Plugin Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the GiveWP Donation Plugin and Fundraising Platform for WordPress, affecting all versions through 4.5.0. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in the donor notes parameter. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with GiveWP worker-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages, which are executed when users access the affected page. Exploitation also requires tricking an administrator into visiting a legacy version of the site.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the GiveWP Donation Plugin to version 4.6.0 or later.
