A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in Campcodes Payroll Management System version 1.0. The issue arises in the file '/Payroll_Management_System/ajax.php?action=save_payroll', where insufficient validation of the 'id' parameter allows attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and leakage of sensitive information.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to interfere with the application's database queries. This could result in unauthorized data access, data modification or deletion, and in some cases, executing administrative operations on the database.
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a POST request to '/Payroll_Management_System/ajax.php?action=save_payroll' with a crafted 'id' parameter that includes a SQL injection payload. The injection can be verified by using a payload that exploits boolean-based blind SQL injection, such as one that tests for a true condition.
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection vulnerabilities. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure user input conforms to expected formats. Minimizing database user permissions and conducting regular security audits can also help mitigate such vulnerabilities.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
