A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in SPIP versions prior to 4.3.6, 4.2.17, and 4.1.20. The issue arises in the private area, where the 'transmettre' API fails to properly sanitize error messages. This lack of sanitation allows attackers to inject malicious scripts. While this vulnerability is addressed in the latest versions, it is important to note that the SPIP security screen can help mitigate the risk.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.
Users can update to SPIP versions 4.3.6, 4.2.17, or 4.1.20. Instructions for updating are available on the SPIP website.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
