A local file inclusion vulnerability has been identified in the AncoraThemes Piqes WordPress theme, specifically in versions through 1.0.11. This vulnerability arises from improper control of filenames in include or require statements, allowing PHP remote file inclusion that could be exploited for local file inclusion instead.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could allow a malicious actor to include local files from the target website and display their contents. This could potentially lead to a complete database takeover, depending on the configuration, especially if files containing credentials are accessed.

Remediation

Users are advised to update to a version of the Piqes WordPress theme that is later than 1.0.11. Patchstack has also issued a mitigation rule to block attacks targeting this vulnerability until an official fix can be safely applied.
