WebGeniusLab iRecco Core Local File Inclusion Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A local file inclusion vulnerability has been identified in the WebGeniusLab iRecco Core plugin for WordPress, affecting versions through 1.3.6. This vulnerability arises from improper control of filenames in include or require statements, allowing PHP remote file inclusion.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized inclusion of local files from the target website, potentially disclosing sensitive information such as database credentials. Depending on the configuration, this could result in a complete takeover of the database.

Remediation

Users are advised to update to a version of the iRecco Core plugin for WordPress that is later than 1.3.6. Patchstack has also issued a mitigation rule to block attacks targeting this vulnerability.
