A deserialization vulnerability allowing object injection has been identified in the WordPress OneLife theme, affecting versions through 3.9. This vulnerability arises from the improper handling of untrusted data, which could potentially be exploited to execute arbitrary code, inject malicious SQL, traverse file paths, cause denial-of-service conditions, and more, if a suitable payload execution chain is established.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to PHP object injection, allowing for various attacks such as code execution, SQL injection, path traversal, and denial-of-service, depending on the presence of an appropriate payload execution chain.

Remediation

Users are advised to update to a version of the OneLife theme later than 3.9. Patchstack has also issued a mitigation rule to block attacks targeting this vulnerability until an official fix can be safely applied.
