Linux Kernel Van Gogh SoC Support Vulnerability Causes AMD GPU Driver Crash

Vulnerability

A vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel related to the handling of power management for the Van Gogh SoC in the ROG Xbox Ally (non-X) device. Unlike the Steam Deck, which supports a specific sleep state, the Xbox Ally has removed this support, leading to improper power management. As a result, the device fails to enter a low-power state, causing the AMD GPU driver to crash during the resume process due to a power hang.

Impact

The absence of proper power management support for the Van Gogh SoC in the Xbox Ally device leads to a failure in suspending the device, causing the AMD GPU driver to crash when attempting to resume, due to a power hang.
