Code-Projects Simple Online Hotel Reservation System SQL Injection Vulnerability in Add Room Admin Page

Vulnerability

A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in version 1.0 of the Code-Projects Simple Online Hotel Reservation System. The issue resides in the admin/add_room.php file, where the room_type parameter is manipulated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely without authentication, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data modification or deletion, and exposure of sensitive information.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to interfere with the application's database queries. This could lead to unauthorized data access, data manipulation, and in some cases, executing administrative operations on the database.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a POST request to the admin/add_room.php page with the room_type parameter. Inject a payload that exploits the SQL injection vulnerability, such as one that uses time-based blind SQL injection techniques, like the SQL injection exploitation example provided in the vulnerability details.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
