Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Liferay Portal versions 7.4.0 through 7.4.3.132, as well as in Liferay DXP versions 2025.Q2.0 through 2025.Q2.9, 2025.Q1.0 through 2025.Q1.16, 2024.Q4.0 through 2024.Q4.7, 2024.Q3.1 through 2024.Q3.13, 2024.Q2.1 through 2024.Q2.13, and 2024.Q1.1 through 2024.Q1.19. This vulnerability allows remote, authenticated attackers to inject and execute JavaScript code by exploiting the _com_liferay_dynamic_data_mapping_web_portlet_DDMPortlet_definition parameter. The injected payload is executed in the context of the victim's browser when they access a URL containing the crafted parameter.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to Liferay Portal's master branch or Liferay DXP versions 2025.Q2.10, 2025.Q1.17, or 2024.Q1.20 to address this vulnerability.
