Adobe InDesign Desktop Use-After-Free Vulnerability Allowing Arbitrary Code Execution

A use-after-free vulnerability has been identified in Adobe InDesign Desktop versions 20.5, 19.5.5 and earlier. This vulnerability could lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation requires user interaction, as a victim must open a malicious file.

Exploitation of this vulnerability could result in arbitrary code execution on the affected system, allowing an attacker to execute malicious code with the privileges of the current user.

Remediation

Users are advised to update to Adobe InDesign version 21.0 or 20.5.1. For managed environments, IT administrators can use the Creative Cloud Packager to create deployment packages.
