D-Link DIR-619L Stack-Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A critical stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the D-Link DIR-619L router running firmware version 2.06B01. The issue arises in the 'form_macfilter' function, where the 'mac_hostname_%d' and 'sched_name_%d' arguments can be manipulated. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to overwrite the stack, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability causes a stack-based buffer overflow, which can be leveraged to execute arbitrary code.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to the 'form_macfilter' function with overly long data in the 'mac_hostname_%d' and 'sched_name_%d' arguments. The excessive length of the data will cause a stack overflow, allowing for control over the program's execution flow.
