DNN Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Profile Biography Field

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in DNN (formerly DotNetNuke) versions prior to 10.1.0. When users entered information in the Biography field, even if it was not rich-text, they could inject JavaScript that executed in the context of the website. This injected script would run for any user viewing the profile, including administrators and superusers.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected JavaScript is executed in the context of the user viewing the profile.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to DNN version 10.1.0 or later to address this vulnerability.
