1000 Projects ABC Courier Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in version 1.0 of the ABC Courier Management System, specifically within the adminSQL file. The vulnerability arises from inadequate validation of the 'username' parameter, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This exploitation can lead to unauthorized access to the database, manipulation or deletion of data, and exposure of sensitive information. Notably, this vulnerability can be exploited remotely without any authentication.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for unauthorized database access, leakage of sensitive data, data manipulation, and potential interruption of services.
Reproduction
The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to the '/admin' endpoint with a crafted 'username' parameter that includes malicious SQL payloads. This can be done using tools like sqlmap, which automates the process of finding and exploiting SQL injection vulnerabilities.
Remediation
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
