Code-Projects Real Estate Property Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in version 1.0 of the Code-Projects Real Estate Property Management System. The issue resides in the '/Admin/InsertCategory.php' file, where the 'txtCategoryName' parameter is vulnerable to injection attacks. This vulnerability allows attackers to manipulate SQL queries by injecting malicious payloads, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data modification or deletion, and exposure of sensitive information. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely without any authentication.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, enabling attackers to interfere with the application's database queries. This could lead to unauthorized data access, data manipulation, and in some cases, executing administrative operations on the database.
Reproduction
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a POST request to '/Admin/InsertCategory.php' with the 'txtCategoryName' parameter. Inject a payload that exploits the SQL injection vulnerability, such as a time-based blind SQL injection payload that uses a SQL injection technique to delay the response and indicate successful exploitation.
Remediation
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure user input conforms to expected formats. Minimizing database user permissions and conducting regular security audits can also help mitigate such vulnerabilities.
