A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WeGIA application, specifically in versions prior to 3.4.6. The issue resides in the personalizacao.php endpoint, where the application fails to properly validate and sanitize user inputs in the err parameter. This oversight allows attackers to inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user's browser. This could lead to capturing login credentials, performing actions on behalf of the user, virtual defacement of the website, or redirecting the user to a competing site.
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a GET request to the personalizacao.php endpoint with the msg parameter set to 'error' and the err parameter containing the injected script, such as a script tag including JavaScript code, like an alert displaying the document's cookies. The injected script will be reflected back and executed in the browser.
Users can upgrade to WeGIA version 3.4.6 or later to address this vulnerability.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
