WeGIA Reflected Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in pre_cadastro_atendido.php Endpoint

Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WeGIA application, specifically in versions prior to 3.4.6. The issue resides in the 'pre_cadastro_atendido.php' endpoint, where the application fails to properly validate and sanitize user inputs in the 'msg_e' parameter. This oversight allows attackers to inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user's browser. This could lead to capturing login credentials, performing actions on behalf of the user, virtual defacement of the website, or redirecting the user to a competing site.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a GET request to the 'pre_cadastro_atendido.php' endpoint with a payload injected into the 'msg_e' parameter. The injected script will be reflected back in the response and executed in the browser.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to WeGIA version 3.4.6 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
