Campcodes Online Hospital Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability in Book Appointment Feature

Vulnerability

A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in Campcodes Online Hospital Management System version 1.0. The issue resides in the '/hms/book-appointment.php' file, where the 'doctor' parameter is manipulated to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, allowing attackers to gain unauthorized access to the database, manipulate or delete data, and access sensitive information.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for unauthorized database access, manipulation or deletion of data, access to sensitive information, and potential disruption of services.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a POST request to '/hms/book-appointment.php' with the 'doctor' parameter included. Inject a payload that exploits the SQL injection vulnerability, such as one that uses a time-based blind SQL injection technique, like adding a SQL injection payload that causes the database to pause (using the SLEEP function) for a few seconds before responding. This indicates that the injection was successful.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
