WordPress CaptionPix Plugin Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WordPress CaptionPix plugin, affecting versions through 1.8. This issue arises from improper input sanitization during web page generation, allowing attackers to inject malicious scripts that are executed when users visit the affected site.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.
Remediation
Users are advised to update to a version of the CaptionPix plugin that is not vulnerable to this issue. However, as of now, no official fix is available. Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this vulnerability for its customers.
