A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the CRM and Lead Management by vCita plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 2.7.5. The vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts are executed when a user accesses the page where the script was injected.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the page.
To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Contributor-level access or higher can inject scripts via the 'type' parameter. This can be done by accessing the vCita widget settings and entering a script into the 'type' parameter, which will then be executed when the page is viewed.
Users are advised to update the vCita CRM and Lead Management plugin to version 2.8.0 or later.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
