A DOM-based stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the TablePress plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 3.1.2. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts. This injected script executes when a user accesses the affected page. The vulnerability is triggered through the 'data-caption', 'data-s-content-padding', 'data-s-title', and 'data-footer' data attributes.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for authenticated, DOM-based stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user.
To reproduce this vulnerability, an authenticated user with Contributor-level access or higher can inject scripts using the specified data attributes. Once the scripts are injected, they will execute when the page is accessed.
Users are advised to update to TablePress version 3.1.3 or later.
