A reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WP Attachments plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 5.0.12. The issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts via the 'attachment_id' parameter. These scripts could be executed if a user is tricked into clicking a link.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for reflected cross-site scripting, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a request to the WordPress site with the 'attachment_id' parameter set to a value that will be processed by the WP Attachments plugin. The injected script must be crafted to execute when the user clicks the link or performs the action that triggers the request.
Users are advised to update the WP Attachments plugin to version 5.1 or later.
