LoftOcean CozyStay WordPress Theme Local File Inclusion Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A local file inclusion vulnerability has been identified in the LoftOcean CozyStay WordPress theme, affecting versions prior to 1.7.1. This vulnerability arises from improper control of filenames in include or require statements, allowing PHP remote file inclusion that could be exploited for local file inclusion instead. Exploitation of this vulnerability could enable a malicious actor to include and execute local files from the server, potentially leading to the disclosure of sensitive information such as database credentials.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to include and execute local files on the server, with the possibility of accessing sensitive information like database credentials. Depending on the server configuration, this could lead to a complete takeover of the database.
Remediation
Users are advised to update the LoftOcean CozyStay WordPress theme to version 1.7.1 or later. Patchstack has also issued a virtual patch to block attacks targeting this vulnerability.
