Android Framework Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in InstallPackageHelper

Vulnerability

A logic error in the InstallPackageHelper component of the Android Framework allows an app to be installed in a hidden state, with no available option for uninstallation. This vulnerability could lead to local elevation of privilege, as no additional execution privileges are required for exploitation. User interaction is also not necessary.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could result in unauthorized access to elevated privileges, allowing a user or application to perform actions or access resources that are normally restricted.

Remediation

Users can update their devices to Android 16 QPR2 with a security patch level of 2025-12-01 or later to address this vulnerability.
