Android Framework Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in Widevine DRM Component
Vulnerability
A logic error in the Android framework's AssociationRequest.java file allows apps to improperly retain Content Decryption Module (CDM) associations. This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation without requiring additional execution rights or user interaction.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability could result in unauthorized elevation of privilege, allowing a user or application to gain rights or access levels that are normally restricted.
Remediation
Users can update their devices to the September 2025 security patch level to address this vulnerability. Instructions for checking and updating the Android version are available on the Google Support website.
