A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in PHPGurukul Park Ticketing Management System version 2.0. The issue resides in the file '/foreigner-search.php', where the 'searchdata' parameter is processed. The vulnerability allows attackers to inject malicious SQL queries, which could be executed against the application's database. This flaw can be exploited remotely, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data manipulation, and disruption of services.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands, appended to the original SQL query of the vulnerable endpoint. This could lead to unauthorized data access, data modification or deletion, and in some cases, executing commands on the server under the database user's privileges.
The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to '/ptms/foreigner-search.php' with a crafted 'searchdata' parameter. The injected SQL payload can be a time-based blind injection, using SQL functions like SLEEP to demonstrate the injection, or a UNION-based injection to extract database information.
To address this vulnerability, it is recommended to implement prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be applied to ensure that user input meets expected formats, blocking malicious data. Finally, database user permissions should be minimized, ensuring that accounts used for database connections have only the necessary privileges.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
