itsourcecode Gym Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability
Vulnerability
A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the itsourcecode Gym Management System version 1.0. The issue resides in the file '/ajax.php?action=save_schedule', where the 'member_id' parameter is manipulated, leading to unauthorized database access. This vulnerability allows attackers to inject malicious SQL queries, potentially modifying or deleting data and accessing sensitive information. Notably, no authentication is required to exploit this vulnerability, and it can be executed remotely.
Impact
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for SQL injection, where attackers can manipulate database queries. This could lead to unauthorized data access, data modification or deletion, and in some cases, executing administrative operations on the database.
Reproduction
To reproduce this vulnerability, send a POST request to '/ajax.php?action=save_schedule' with the 'member_id' parameter. Inject a payload that exploits the SQL injection vulnerability, such as a time-based blind SQL injection payload that uses SQL injection techniques to manipulate the SQL query execution time. This can be done by appending a crafted SQL payload to the 'member_id' parameter, which is then processed by the application without proper sanitization, allowing the injection of malicious SQL code that could be used to extract or manipulate database information.
Remediation
It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection vulnerabilities. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure that user input conforms to expected formats. Minimizing database user permissions and conducting regular security audits can also help mitigate such vulnerabilities.
