Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Forms

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Forms component of Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts or HTML into a form with a rich text field. The issue is present in Liferay Portal versions 7.3.2 through 7.4.3.111, as well as in Liferay DXP versions 2023.Q4.0 through 2023.Q4.5, 2023.Q3.1 through 2023.Q3.8, 7.4 GA through update 92, and 7.3 GA through update 35.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the form entries.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to Liferay Portal 7.4.3.112, Liferay DXP 2024.Q1.1, Liferay DXP 2023.Q4.6, Liferay DXP 2023.Q3.9, or Liferay DXP 7.3 update 36.
