Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Commerce Search Result Widget

Vulnerability

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in the Commerce Search Result widget of Liferay Portal versions 7.4.0 to 7.4.3.111, as well as in Liferay DXP 2023.Q4 prior to patch 6, 2023.Q3 prior to patch 9, and 7.4 GA through update 92. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts or HTML by crafting a payload that is injected into a Commerce Product's Name text field.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the affected widget.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to Liferay Portal 7.4.3.112, Liferay DXP 2024.Q1.1, Liferay DXP 2023.Q4.6, or Liferay DXP 2023.Q3.9 to address this vulnerability.
