Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Liferay Portal versions 7.4.3.50 through 7.4.3.111, as well as in Liferay DXP versions 2023.Q4.0 through 2023.Q4.4, 2023.Q3.1 through 2023.Q3.7, and 7.4 update 50 through update 92. This vulnerability allows remote authenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts or HTML. The injection occurs through a crafted payload placed in an asset author's First Name, Middle Name, or Last Name text fields.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to Liferay Portal 7.4.3.112, Liferay DXP 2024.Q1.1, Liferay DXP 2023.Q4.5, or Liferay DXP 2023.Q3.8.
