Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Liferay Portal versions 7.4.0 through 7.4.3.132, as well as in several Liferay DXP releases. This vulnerability allows remote authenticated attackers to inject JavaScript into Custom Object field labels. The injected payload is stored and executed in the Process Builder's Configuration tab, where it is not properly escaped.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected JavaScript is executed in the context of the user.

Remediation

Liferay Portal users can update to the latest version available on the master branch. Liferay DXP users should update to version 2024.Q1.20, 2025.Q1.17, or 2025.Q2.10.
