A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Relevanssi – A Better Search plugin for WordPress. This issue affects all versions through 4.24.3 (Free) and 2.27.4 (Premium). The vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in the highlights feature, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary scripts. These scripts are executed when users access the affected pages via search results.
Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the search results.
To reproduce this vulnerability, upload a script to a site using an affected version of the Relevanssi plugin. Then, search for a term that will trigger the highlight feature. The injected script will execute when the search results are viewed.
Users can update to Relevanssi version 4.24.4 (Free) or 2.27.5 (Premium) to address this vulnerability.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
