Linux Kernel JFS Sanity Check Vulnerability in dbMount

Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's JFS (Journaled File System) module has been addressed. The issue arose because the allocation group (AG) width in the dmapctl control structure was zero, leading to a divide error when calculating the control page level in the dbAllocAG function. This vulnerability has been resolved by adding a sanity check for the AG width in dbAllocAG.

Impact

The vulnerability could cause a divide error, potentially leading to a denial-of-service condition by causing a crash or unintended behavior in the system.
