A privilege escalation vulnerability has been identified in the Intel MPI Library for Windows, affecting versions prior to 2021.16, and in the Intel oneAPI HPC Toolkit, also prior to version 2025.2. This vulnerability arises from an uncontrolled search path within user applications, which may allow an unprivileged adversary with authenticated access to escalate privileges. The attack, characterized by high complexity, requires active user interaction and could potentially be exploited through local access without special internal knowledge.
Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation, allowing a user to gain elevated rights or access within the system.
Users are advised to update the Intel MPI Library for Windows to version 2021.16 or later, and to update the Intel oneAPI HPC Toolkit to version 2025.2 or later. These updates are available for download from the Intel Developer Zone.
Our algorithm analyzes dozens of metrics to generate these 8 key vulnerability categories, which are then combined to calculate the overall risk score.
