EventON Pro WordPress Plugin Missing Authorization Vulnerability Leading to Stored Cross-Site Scripting

Vulnerability

A vulnerability exists in the EventON Pro WordPress plugin, all versions through 4.9.6, due to a missing capability check. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. The injected scripts execute when a user accesses the compromised page. Although this vulnerability was partially addressed in version 4.9.6, it still poses a risk in earlier versions.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the affected page.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the EventON Pro WordPress plugin to version 4.9.7 or a newer patched version.
