IPFire Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Time Constraint Rule URL Filter

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in IPFire versions prior to 2.29 (Core Update 198). This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers to inject arbitrary JavaScript into the web interface via the SRC, DST, and COMMENT parameters when creating time constraint rules. The injected scripts are executed in the context of users who view the affected entries, due to the lack of proper sanitization or encoding before rendering.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of users viewing the affected time constraint entries.

Remediation

Users can update to IPFire 2.29 (Core Update 198) to address this vulnerability.
