RT-Labs P-Net Heap-Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability Allowing IO Device Crashes

Vulnerability

A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in RT-Labs P-Net versions prior to 1.0.2. This vulnerability allows an attacker to cause a crash in IO devices that utilize the P-Net library by sending a malicious RPC packet.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to a crash of IO devices using the P-Net library.

Remediation

Users are advised to update to RT-Labs P-Net version 1.0.2.
