WordPress Download Manager Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability via SVG Uploads

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Download Manager plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 3.3.12. This issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with Author-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into pages. The injected scripts execute when a user accesses the SVG file.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the affected SVG file.

Remediation

Users can update to version 3.3.13 or a newer patched version to address this vulnerability.
