Motorola Smart Connect Bluetooth File Interception Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A vulnerability exists in version 1.0 of the Bluetooth Transmission Alliance protocol used by the Motorola Smart Connect Android application. This issue allows a nearby attacker within Bluetooth range to intercept files being transferred to a device not paired with Smart Connect. The vulnerability arises because the protocol lacks a mechanism to authenticate the recipient of file transfers, enabling passive eavesdropping and device tracking attacks.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized interception of files transferred via Bluetooth, causing potential information disclosure.

Remediation

Users should update the Motorola Smart Connect Android application to version 08.0.1.011.0 or later. For Lenovo tablets, the update can be downloaded through the Lenovo Drivers & Software support site.
