GStreamer Incorrect Permission Assignment Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A local privilege escalation vulnerability has been identified in GStreamer. This issue arises from incorrect permission assignments on folders within the product installer, allowing local attackers to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of a target user. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must first gain the ability to run low-privileged code on the affected system.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code with elevated rights in the context of the affected user.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to GStreamer version 1.25.1 to address this vulnerability.
