Intel Platforms Denial-of-Service Vulnerability via Infinite Loop in Kernel Privilege

Vulnerability

A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in some Intel platforms, caused by an infinite loop in the kernel running at Ring 0. This issue may allow a system software adversary with privileged access to disrupt system availability. The vulnerability can potentially be exploited through local access, without special internal knowledge, and requires no user interaction.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability leads to a denial-of-service condition, causing significant disruption to system availability.
