WeGIA Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in adicionar_status_atendido.php Endpoint

Vulnerability

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the WeGIA application, specifically within the adicionar_status_atendido.php endpoint. This issue allows attackers to inject malicious scripts into the status parameter, which are then stored on the server. The injected scripts are executed automatically when the affected page is accessed by users, creating a significant security risk. The vulnerability affects WeGIA versions prior to 3.2.15 and has been patched in version 3.2.16.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user accessing the page, potentially leading to session hijacking, credential theft, and other malicious actions as described in the advisory.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, send a POST request to the adicionar_status_atendido.php endpoint with a status parameter containing a malicious script, such as one that exploits the image onerror event. Once the script is injected, it will be executed automatically when the page is accessed.

Remediation

Users can update to WeGIA version 3.2.16 or later to address this vulnerability.
