Moodle Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Live Log Administration

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Moodle's site administration live log. This issue arises from the description information displayed in the log, which required additional sanitization to prevent the risk of XSS. The vulnerability affects Moodle versions 4.5 prior to 4.5.1, 4.4 prior to 4.4.5, 4.3 prior to 4.3.9, 4.1 prior to 4.1.15, and earlier unsupported versions.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for stored cross-site scripting, where injected scripts are executed in the context of the user viewing the live log.

Remediation

Users can upgrade to Moodle versions 4.5.2, 4.4.6, 4.3.10, or 4.1.16 to address this vulnerability.
