Intel Xeon 6 Processors Privilege Escalation Vulnerability via Out-of-Bounds Write

Vulnerability

A vulnerability allowing out-of-bounds write in the memory subsystem has been identified in some Intel Xeon 6 processors. This issue arises when using Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) or Intel Trust Domain Extensions (TDX), and may allow a privileged user to escalate privileges through local access. Intel has released microcode updates to address this vulnerability.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation.

Remediation

Users of affected Intel Xeon 6 processors are advised to update to the latest firmware version provided by their system manufacturer that addresses this vulnerability. Intel has released microcode updates for affected processors that are currently supported, available on the public Intel GitHub repository.
