PHPGurukul Doctor Appointment Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in PHPGurukul Doctor Appointment Management System version 1.0. The issue arises in the file '/doctor/appointment-bwdates-reports-details.php', where the 'fromdate' and 'todate' parameters are not properly validated, allowing attackers to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows attackers to manipulate SQL queries, potentially leading to unauthorized database access, data modification or deletion, and exposure of sensitive information.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to '/doctor/appointment-bwdates-reports-details.php' with crafted 'fromdate' and 'todate' parameters. The 'fromdate' parameter should include a payload that exploits the SQL injection, such as a time-based blind injection payload that uses the SQL 'SLEEP' function.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection, validate and filter user input, minimize database user permissions, and conduct regular security audits.
