Intel 800 Series Ethernet Driver Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A vulnerability allowing integer overflow or wraparound has been identified in the Linux kernel-mode driver for some Intel 800 Series Ethernet devices, prior to version 1.17.2. This vulnerability may enable an authenticated user to escalate privileges through local access.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Intel 800 Series Ethernet drivers to version 1.17.2 or later. The updated drivers are available on the Intel GitHub repository for Ethernet Linux Ice or as part of the Intel Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack version 30.0.1 or later.
