PHPGurukul Apartment Visitors Management System SQL Injection Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A critical SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in version 1.0 of the PHPGurukul Apartment Visitors Management System. The issue resides in the '/create-pass.php' file, where the 'visname' parameter is manipulated to inject malicious SQL queries. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, without any authentication, allowing attackers to gain unauthorized access to the database, modify or delete data, and access sensitive information.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for unauthorized database access, manipulation of data, leakage of sensitive information, and potential disruption of services.

Reproduction

The vulnerability can be reproduced by sending a POST request to 'create-pass.php' with the 'visname' parameter. The request should include a crafted SQL payload that exploits the application's SQL query handling. This can be done using tools like sqlmap, which automates the process of finding and exploiting SQL injection vulnerabilities.

Remediation

It is recommended to use prepared statements and parameter binding to prevent SQL injection. Additionally, input validation and filtering should be implemented to ensure user input conforms to expected formats. Minimizing database user permissions and conducting regular security audits are also advisable.
