Intel 800 Series Ethernet Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel-mode driver for Intel 800 Series Ethernet, prior to version 1.17.2, may allow an authenticated user to escalate privileges through local access. This issue arises from insufficient control flow management, which could be exploited to gain unauthorized rights or access.

Remediation

Users are advised to update the Intel 800 Series Ethernet drivers to version 1.17.2 or later. The latest drivers are available on the Intel GitHub repository for Ethernet Linux Ice or through the Intel Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack version 30.0.1 or later.
