A cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in GitLab Community Edition (CE) and Enterprise Edition (EE) versions 17.9 prior to 17.10.8, 17.11 prior to 17.11.4, and 18.0 prior to 18.0.2. The issue arises from improper output encoding in the snippet viewer functionality, which can be exploited to perform cross-site scripting attacks.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows for cross-site scripting attacks, where an attacker can inject malicious scripts that are executed in the context of the user's browser.
